MUCEM

The MUCEM, Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations, is the largest national museum dedicated to the civilizations of the Mediterranean in the 21st century! Since its opening in 2013, it welcomes over a million visitors from around the world each year. Imagined and designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti, the MUCEM in Marseille is an architectural gem blending technical prowess and aesthetic power. The MUCEM consists of 2 spaces. The first space, the Mediterranean gallery dedicated to the discovery of the major milestones of Mediterranean civilizations and the second, dedicated to all temporary exhibitions often highlighting current artistic or societal news. The permanent exhibitions cover numerous scientific subjects such as anthropology, archaeology, history, art history, and contemporary art. This museum aims to present a cultural, social, but also scientific and political perspective on the diversity of civilizations. The MUCEM in Marseille is a true city of knowledge and exchange that addresses the current challenges of this world. In addition to major exhibitions, it offers debates, lectures, documentaries… Located at the entrance of the harbor, it enjoys an ideal geographical location if you want to discover the city in all its entirety! Take the opportunity to stroll on its terrace which offers an exceptional view of the Old Port! In summer, it also hosts open-air concerts during the Plan B festival.
