Christopher Coutanceau, a three-star chef

Coming from a family of renowned chefs, it was only natural that Christopher Coutanceau became enamored with the world of cooking. Awarded a 3rd Michelin star in 2020, this chef uses his fame to support causes dear to him, such as sustainable fishing. He even describes himself as a “chef-fisher.” In his restaurant, respect for ingredients is paramount. All products are seasonal, and you won’t find any endangered species or those in their breeding season on the menu. His efforts earned him the Sustainable Gastronomy Award in 2019 from the Michelin Guide.

His starred restaurant is located on La Concurrence beach, just steps away from the Old Port of La Rochelle. Inspired by the marine world, you will be immediately immersed in a carefully designed decor. Everything has been crafted to ensure you enjoy a moment in harmony with the ocean: sand-colored walls, deep blue carpet, plant-based pendants, and water droplet-shaped dishware… Alongside his right-hand man, Nicolas Brossard, both prioritize working with respect to offer the best to their customers. The products are selected with the utmost care: shellfish, crustaceans, and line-caught fish, all from local fishing. The result of many years of work and passion, the restaurant’s wine cellar now boasts over 22,000 bottles from 1,800 different selections.

You will also have the opportunity to discover Yole de Chris, a maritime bistro the chef opened in 2018. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Seafood, fish, shellfish, and crustaceans are carefully selected from the fish market every morning to delight your taste buds! With a terrace overlooking the ocean, the setting is idyllic for enjoying delicious dishes! Discover Chef Christopher Coutanceau’s cuisine in La Rochelle without further delay!
